Born out of necessity in 1996, Atwood Hat Company sprang forth because of the founder's constant search for a hat that would work as hard as he did and still look good enough to wear to town after the workday was done. During a trip to Mexico in 1987, Dick Atwood purchased a palm leaf hat. After seeing how well the hat lasted in the hay fields and branding pens, Dick went back to Mexico and brought back more palm leaf hats for his friends. The story of Borsalino began in 1857 when Giuseppe Borsalino set up the first artisan workshop for the production of felt hats.
